Our fitter has over 20 years fitting experience as well as over a decade of dancing en pointe herself. She is passionate about pointe shoes and helping dancers find their perfect fit.
Fittings can take anywhere from 45 mins to 2 hours depending on your experience level. First time pointe students should block a solid hour and a half for their fitting. We recommend wearing convertible tights. You can purchase them here. Don't forget to trim your toenails!
Pointe shoes, ribbons, elastics & toe pads are all purchased separately. A complete pair of pointe shoes including the ribbons, elastics and toe pads averages about $160. But prices vary. You can reuse the ribbons, elastics and toe pads on future pairs of shoes.
Pointe shoes have to be fit very specifically to your current foot. No room to grow. They do not have a right or left. They form to the foot you put them on. Average lifespan of a pointe shoe is around 15 dancing hours.
Pointe shoes require sewing your own elastics and ribbons onto the shoes. An important part of dancing en pointe is learning how to sew/prepare your shoes. The dancer must learn to do it themselves. It is the only way to learn what you like and dislike about placement and fitting. Sewing is part of the craft of being a ballet dancer. We carry ballerina sewing kits as well.
Pointe shoes vary in sizing from make to make and model to model. We do not recommend buying pointe shoes online.
