Tapa Tapa Tapa... It's time to Tap Dance
Tap class will provide students with a strong understanding of basic tap foundation, terminology, timing and rhythm. An emphasis will be placed on explanation of terminology, execution of basic steps through more challenging rhythms, precise tap sounds, improvisational techniques, coordination, syncopation and technical execution. Tap Shoes Required
- School Year - Classes begin each September and consists of 4 quarterly sessions; Fall, Holiday, Winter & Spring. There are 8 classes in each quarter. Our curriculum is based on a full school year. New skills are introduced each quarter and build throughout the year.
- Tuition - Tuition fees are $85/session (8 weeks) and are pre-paid quarterly. Discounts are available for multiple weekly classes, referrals, and early tuition payments. A once a year registration fee of $15 is added to the first tuition payment (waived on 'registration days')
- New students are welcome to join our program at any time throughout the year. The current session tuition will be pro-rated based on the number of classes remaining in the session. A once a year registration fee of $15 is added to the first tuition payment
- Recital - We end our school year by participating in Room To Moves annual showcase 'Time To Groove' each June. Our students are encouraged to participate in the recital but it is not required. Costume & ticket fees apply. Recital contracts/fees are due February 1st of each year.
- Summer School - For those who prefer to dance year round we offer a fun & functional 8 week 'Summer School' session to keep them on their toes.

Classes are subject to cancellation due to low registration. Each student will be notified via email or phone call if that happens. To help avoid that situation, please register early or at least drop us an email to let me know that you plan on attending a class. There is a 4 student minimum and a 12 student maximum for each class. Register ASAP to reserve your spot in class.
Missed classes:
Missed classes can be made in the other tap/ballet/burlesque class option as well as some other classes offered at Room To Move. No refunds will be given for missed classes. You will have one 8 week session after the session you registered for to make up a missed class.

Miss Emily
Miss Emily began her dance training at the age of three, and continues her training to this day. She attended Eastern Illinois University where she received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Emily currently teaches 3rd grade at St. Florian. She also is the Director of the Liturgical Dance Troupe for her church. Her training and performance history include: Susan's School of Dance in Munster (originally in South Holland), Dance Tapestry in South Holland, and the EIU Dancers based out of Charleston, Illinois, and affiliated with Eastern Illinois University where she served as President and Vice President during her years there. Ms. Emily was also a member of IEPC (Image Ensemble Performance Company), and has performed locally at various functions, including Six Flags Great America. In addition to her personal dance training, Ms. Emily has traveled to Buffalo, New York, to enhance her dance teaching ability by being a member of Dance Master's Teacher's Training Program. This is an extensive program that takes four years to complete, and are tested (written, demonstration, oral) in all areas of dance that are taught. She loves seeing her students' technique bloom over the years, and is looking forward to seeing many more of her student's achievements as the years go by. Ms. Emily currently resides in Lansing with her kitty Monty.
